Steven

A co-founder of AFFECT, Stephen was appointed Director by the Board of Trustees.

He has personal experience of being within the family of a serious offender and has many years experience as Chair of various committees including a national organisation which supported the families of serious offenders. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Action for Prisoners Families.

This experience has provided a vision of how Stephen would like to see all victims of crime in the United Kingdom treated, with equality. Wanting to promote awareness of the plight of families of serious offenders, Stephen is working toward developing links with many voluntary and statutory agencies, including HM Prison Service, the Police, Probation, Victim Support, Witness Support, VOICES, and others.

Recognising the importance of running a charity effectively, he combines business sense with care and compassion, integrating SMART management and empathic counselling skills, for the benefit of AFFECT as an organisation and the charities beneficiaries. Stephen also holds the role of Counselling Supervisor for AFFECT and sits on the interview panel for all volunteers and staff.

During a thirty four year naval career, he was awarded medals for Long and Meritorious service and a campaign medal.
