Veronica [retired teacher] is a founder member of AFFECT. Her understanding of the needs of families of the accused and imprisoned is drawn from personal experience of forty years experience of visiting prisons and psychiatric hospitals. For many years she campaigned tirelessly for improvements in prisons and psychiatric institutions and, during recent years, first as a member of Aftermath and now as Chair of AFFECT, has turned her attention to the hidden victims of crime - the families of the accused and imprisoned. Veronica is the author of the AFFECT the publications: "Arrest", "Attending Court", "Family Stories" and, Guide to the English Courts". In association with MediaWise, she is the author of "Coping with the Press".

Tricia (Secretary & Senior Counsellor)

Tricia, a founder member of AFFECT, is the lead counsellor and the training coordinator, In addition to developing and delivering the internal training programme, she delivers training, presents workshops and study days to other charities and organizations, such as the Probation Service and the Police. Likewise, she draws on her long and varied counselling experience to offer counselling to family members of prisoners to help them manage the trauma and stigma associated with having an imprisoned family member; Tricia is keen that AFFECT challenges and reduces this stigma.

Stephen (Director)

A founder member of AFFECT, Stephen is the charity's Director. He has had many years experience in the leadership of charities and has served on the Board of Trustees of Action for Prisioners' Families (APF). Stephen is keen to reach out to as many families as possible, both highlighting the plight of serious offenders and offering practical support to their families; it is from personal experience that he has become aware of the impact on the family, of having a serious offender within in it. Stephen (retired after serving 34 years in the Navy) combines business acumen with counselling skills and experience, for the benefit of AFFECT and those it supports; he is keen to steer the organization in the direction of becoming a nationally recognized support agency.

Trish (Treasurer)

Trish joined AFFECT in March 2004. As treasurer, she is on the Board Trustee. She is a skilled counsellor, which is appreciated by many of our members.

Brenda

Brenda has been through the trauma of having a family member accused of one of the most serious crimes. She has used her experiences to great effect and helped innumerable families over many years. Her common sense and practical approach to problems make her an invaluable member of the Board of Trustees.
