Trustees

Margaret Beard – Chair

I have been a family member since 2005, a trustee since 2007 and took over as chair in July 2009. My other roles include home visits, befriending and editing the News Bulletin. I enjoy entertaining and have hosted a fundraising Cheese and Wine eveing for AFFECT and working lunches and I am looking forward to more of the same in the future.

Mike Homer  – Treasurer

I joined AFFECT about three years ago after seeing a leaflet about their work at ‘Sisters of Bethany’. I served as a volunteer on the chaplaincy team of Winchester prison for eleven years but had to resign when I needed to use a wheelchair. I was keen to renew my calling for prison support so I turned to the other side of the fence to support the families of prisoners. I have now been treasurer for two years and find the work of AFFECT quite challenging.

Sister Mary Joy – Acting Secretary

I have been a Sister of an Anglican Religious Community since 1985, and professed just over 3 years later. Prior to joining the Community, soon after leaving school I worked for the Oxfordshire Probation Service as a Secretary, part of which entailed working in Oxford Prison with the Prison Welfare Officer and also worked as a volunteer at the Hostel for Discharged Prisoners.
